2. A bird’s eye view of the community of Moline
Let me introduce you to Moline. You will find that Moline is a small town that has a big heart. Although there is only a population of about 2500, Moline folks watch out for each other. There are two churches in town, CRC and Baptist, which combine services twice a year.
You won’t do much shopping or go out to eat in Moline, but the towns nearby have plenty of stores with that small-town flavor and great reasons for not cooking dinner. If you favor more a cosmopolitan flair, Grand Rapids is a short drive away for the arts, sporting events, concerts, and this official “Cool City” has lots more.
Moline has a ballpark where summer leagues play each week. Our church as a women’s and men’s team and you are sure to meet your friends as you cheer the team on. Our church has Dinner Circles where couples take turns hosting dinners with other couples in attendance. It’s a great way to mix up groups and get to know one another outside of church.
Our church family is caring and supportive of each other and the pastor. They readily share their God-given gifts with the congregation as they serve on the many committees that make a church run, provide music, teach, and serve as prayer warriors. Our church is a praying church and has an active prayer committee and regular prayer meetings.
March 31, 2008 marked the 100th Anniversary of Moline CRC. While the charter members have departed to their heavenly reward, approximately 60% of the congregation has been here for 10 years or more.
Strangers may come to Moline CRC, but they do not leave as one. We are an open and friendly church and welcome visitors. Church fills up on Sunday mornings, but, like other church trends, is less so in the evening.
Our young people are an energetic group of youth who are willing to get involved and not afraid of work. They love a good time and outings with their peers. They will be excited to have their own pastor with as much energy and vision for fun but especially to serve as a Christian friend and spiritual mentor.
